Ammini Kolukattai


  • Rice – 250g
  • Urad dal – 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida – A pinch
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
  • Red chillies – 2
  • Fresh Coconut – 1
  • Salt – Required
  • Oil – Required

How to Prepare

Total Preparation Time: 20-30 minutes

  1. Dry roast rice, make it cool and grind them like a powder and keep aside, grate coconut and keep aside
  2. Add 2 tsp oil and required amount of salt gradually and mix them slowly
  3. After that add boiled water like adding oil and salt into the rice flour and make them like a smooth dough then marinate for 40 minutes
  4. Take the dough and make tiny sized small balls of quantity 1/4 lemon
  5. Take a idli steamer vessel (or you can use any steamer) then add water and boils it for 10 minutes
  6. Then place a idli plate and cover it with white cloth, then place the all prepared kolukkattai, and close the steamer vessel
  7. Allow them to cook in steam for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a plate
  8. Take a pan, heats with 2 tsp oil then add mustard and urad dal
  9. Once dals become golden, add asafoetida, red chillies, salt and coconut(grated)
  10. Fry them for 1 minutes then add cooked kolukattai balls and toss them well, make sure all kolukattai balls are covered with coconut masala
  11. Finally, turnoff the flame and transferred them into the bowl
  12. Now the delicious Ammini Kolukattai is ready for serve
